Summer Camp: Teen Art and Activism

Ages 13-18

In this camp, teens will learn how to use their artwork for advocacy and activism. During this 4 day camp, students will engage with local artists and guest speaker from the SPLC (Souther Poverty Law Center) to explore the role of art in social movements and engage in positive dialogue about social biases. Each day will also included a guided studio time for students to create with a variety of materials. Student will also have a chance to tour The Bias Inside Us exhibition, organized by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES). Lunch will not be provided, so please bring snacks and/or lunch in sealed container. This workshop is limited to 15 students, and advance registration is required. The registration fee of $60 includes all the art-making materials. Partial scholarships are available upon request. Please contact education@mmfa.org.
