Photography Workshop with Will Fenn

03/23/2024 01:00 PM - 03:00 PM CT

Description

In a two-hour workshop, Will Fenn will explore what constitutes a photograph and how its use has changed. Consideration of how a once intimate image viewing experience has been transformed for the distribution of countless numbers of images online will occur. The discussion will also involve lens-based photographic production and today’s AI generated images. Participants will engage in the making of small silver gelatin prints via pinhole cameras and the creation of social media-based work to be posted online. This is an introductory level workshop for ages 17+. The event is free but registration is required. Participants must bring a smartphone with a built-in camera. Be advised that some aspects of the workshop will be weather dependent.

Will Fenn received his MFA from the University of California, Santa Barbara. His recent work explores the McLemore family of Mitylene, AL. He is an associate professor of photography at Auburn University at Montgomery where he also serves as chair of the Department of Fine Arts and coordinates the annual exhibition schedule for the University’s Cason McDermott Art Gallery.
